Artist Statement

My goal is to have my work reflect my observations and interpretation of the world around me. I hope to show its beauty and mystery to those who care to look.

Paper is my preferred support. Its surface texture appeals to me and I enjoy the way pen and brush move on it and how it takes different mediums. Collage and photo transfer, paper and canvas with ink, acrylic and graphite are all part of my exploration.

My earlier works were predominantly representational. I am moving away from purely realistic and figurative work to more abstracted forms and mixed-media pieces, often layering and superimposing one figure over another. Line, shapes and color figure significantly in my work whether in drawing or painting.
